About Half Dutch
Half Dutch was born in the rolling Ochil hills of Central Scotland and was raised in East Africa and Scotland. She lives in Edinburgh with her daughter and their Shiba Inu.
One Week in 2028 is her first book born from years as a Positive Psychology coach using metaphors, through storytelling, to guide her coachees in their personal development. A common thread of a generalised fear of ‘The Future’ and Artificial Intelligence prompted her to stare that fear in the face through her speculative fiction story.

The story ‘A Week in 2082’ is made up of characters we have all met. Looking into their inner lives Half Dutch hopes you see yourself in part, or in whole, through them. The book is multilayered and has stories within stories. From thrilling adventures in a world class football team to the meaning of ‘success’, hot romance, and relationships with robots! Nodding references are made to the past giving context.
Envisioning the future we desire for ourselves and our children reshapes how we navigate life. It influences the energy we share with others and plays a role in shaping the reality we create. When we clearly see and connect with a meaningful vision, it aligns our actions, intentions, and relationships, allowing us to actively shape how that future unfolds.
Half Dutch’s belief is that ‘The Future’ is not inevitable. The Future is dependent on how we act now, taking the lead in our inner and outer worlds. Being able to see ‘The Future’ we want for ourselves, and our children changes the way we move in the world, how we share our light, and how ‘The Future’ unfolds. Acknowledging our conscious, and that ‘The Future’ of our universe itself depends on our consciousness and us being fearless ‘now’.
This fantasy novel presents a metaphor about how power structures prey upon marginalized outsiders and reduce their humanity. It is a story about human connection in a world becoming rapidly roboticised.
